Steve Turner is pleased to present Sleeping with Ghosts, a solo exhibition featuring new paintings by Giorgio Celin that address his struggle for self-worth and validation, the complexities of family relationships as well as significant connections with a beloved dog and a former partner. Celin’s recurring imagery of natural elements and his use of contrasting light and dark tones add depth to these narratives, symbolizing growth, resilience, and the dualities of joy and sorrow.
Giorgio Celin (born 1986, Barranquilla, Colombia) moved to a small town near Naples in 1994 and later relocated to Barcelona where he now lives. He is self-taught and organically developed his own painting style to address issues relating to migration, belonging, queerness and the complexity of the Latin diaspora. He has had solo exhibitions at Taymour Grahne Projects, London (2021); Galleria Annarumma, Naples (2022); Kornfeld Gallery, Berlin (2022) and Spinello Projects, Miami (2023). This is his first exhibition at Steve Turner.
