Flora: Daniel Albrigo

Over the Influence is pleased to present California-based artist Daniel Albirgo’s first exhibition with the gallery Flora. The show opens on May 20th and will remain on view through July 2, 2023. Albrigo’s monochromatic, hyper-realist oil paintings read as surreal Polaroid snapshots aimed at the exquisite presence of nature oft overlooked or ignored. Gathered in glass vases, lilies and roses, rendering in exacting detail, appear sculptural and otherworldly. The pollen on the stamen, the folds of the petals, and the veins of the leaves, are so deftly reproduced that one half expects to be able to lean in and catch a waft of their honeyed fragrance. Perhaps reminding us all to pause, look around, and smell the flowers.
