Artist Lily Kwong and long-time collaborator, musician, and sound practitioner Sandra Orellana Sears will come together for a two day residency in the Night Gallery Commons during the Spring Equinox. The pair will use the healing potential of sound, nature, and creative practice to bring visitors back into balance with themselves and their environment. Kwong will produce a series of lumens with native plants foraged from her land art piece Subterrestrial while Sears offers a live soundscape of vocals and other frequencies. This collaboration will explore resonance, harmony, and attunement, all in support of creativity and the larger downtown community.
This will be an open, participatory activation where visitors can witness, receive, and spontaneously connect with the innate wisdom and healing power of the earth. Cacao will also be prepared and shared daily to support expression and the creative process. The plant will be woven into Kwong’s lumen practice and available for visitors to drink as well. This will be an opportunity for participants to cultivate their own connection with the frequency of cacao, a powerful plant ally in unlocking creative potential
