Mixografia is proud to present a summer group show, PRINTED LANDSCAPE featuring prints by artists we have collaborated with during our 50+ years of print production. A special Open House will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10 am – 5 pm and will be part of the Gallery Associations Los Angeles (GALA) third annual Gallery Weekend (July 27-29, 2023).
The exhibition will showcase works by Francesca Gabbiani, Joe Goode Jacob Hashimoto, Alex Israel, Kenneth Noland, Ed Ruscha, Fernando de Szyszylo, William Tillyer, and Tom Wesselmann.
The artists in the exhibition contribute unique perspectives and apply innovative approaches on landscape prints, all the while helping to expand the possibilities of the Mixografía® printing technique. Each of these artists have applied various techniques and strategies in their prints and prove that landscape representation is more than horizon lines, trees, and skies.
For both Tom Wesselmann and Alex Israel, the landscapes evoke fantasy, romance and vibrant color made manifest in Hollywood movies and fashion magazines. Francesca Gabbiani and Joe Goode take an ecological approach to landscape by depicting resilient landscapes that persist in spite of the human strain it endures.
For each of his series, Petro Plots and Rusty Signs, Ed Ruscha’s landscapes are centered around the driving experience, as seen through the semiotics of language, whether overheard while driving or seen through maps and road signs. Towering at over eight feet tall, Kenneth Noland’s monumental monotype, Rains depicts the “wetness” of rain as it falls diagonally across the viewer’s vertical periphery. A mastery in printmaking in size and color.
