“I started making positive connections with stones. By throwing stones to stones I start to hear sounds. When the stones clash, I hear like the thunder clash, and I hear the lightning flash, and I hear words, and I don’t know where the words [were] coming from.”
-Lee Scratch Perry
Using this quote as a foundation or framework, the exhibition attempts to intuitively create a community of objects and images whose collisions, contradictions and free associations help establish a dynamic yet emotional visual and auditory narrative. The artists span different generations, backgrounds, disciplines, and formal practices. Through abstraction, sound, craft and the obsessiveness of a collection, these artworks clash, thrash, and cooperate, offering a powerfully subtle yet severely-impassioned experience.
