The artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery will feature paintings and works on paper from 1976 to 1983, the show captures Los Angeles as both a subject and a state of mind. Taggart, who arrived in L.A. in the mid-’70s, moved between commercial work and personal vision, depicting the city’s shifting landscape—glowing freeways, sun-faded signs, and quiet foothills—alongside portraits of musicians, actors, and everyday passersby. Though his work circulated widely, its commitment to figuration and cultural storytelling set it apart from the dominant fine art movements of the time.
