Keystone Art Space is pleased to present INTERWOVEN, a two-person exhibition featuring Sara Marlowe Hall and Marleigh Culver. Working from neighboring studios within the Keystone Art Space community, Hall and Culver have cultivated distinct abstract practices that have developed in quiet parallel over many years. Though materially and visually different, their works share an attentiveness to process, intuition, and the physical act of making.
Hall presents recent paintings developed following her residency on the island of Aegina, Greece, incorporating paint, pastels, watercolor, and hand stitching into layered compositions that investigate memory, landscape, and materiality. Culver debuts a new body of work exploring the relationship between order and chaos through sewn canvases, intuitive mark-making, and expressive fields of color.
Rather than seeking formal similarities, INTERWOVEN considers how artists working in close proximity can arrive at unique visual languages while remaining connected through place, process, and years of shared creative exchange.
