NEONATE

TORUS welcomes you to the inaugural program, NEONATE, a performance series and installation by M∿ JUG. NEONATE is the third movement in an open cycle of narrative ASMR performances charting the invocation of an Angel. In previous chapters, INCUBATION oversaw the formation and inoculation of the Angel’s egg, while HATCHLING assisted the Angel’s emergence onto the terrestrial plane. NEONATE will prepare the Angelic infant for its ascension from earth to air.

Unfolding at the crossroads of psychedelic happening, absurdist theater, and myth-science ritual, NEONATE is equal parts hygiene procedure, physical therapy routine, birthday celebration, and magickal operation, culminating in an ecstatic spectacle of love, care and devotion. Activating a system of custom-fabricated tools, sculptures, and furniture, M∿ JUG serve their singular brand of sensory ensorcellment, conjuring a total environment of otherworldly stimuli. Intertwining the sonic, visual, and tactile, M∿ JUG coax the audience into a synaesthetic gestalt of alien sensation, guaranteed to astonish and delight.

NEONATE will be on view as an installation during regular hours January 12 - February 10. Performances will be held for an intimate audience of 12 ticket-holders at 6pm and 9pm on the following dates: January 12, January 13, January 26, January 27, February 9, and February 10th. In conjunction with NEONATE, M∿ JUG have produced the first capsule collection for TORUS EDITIONS, including limited edition functional objects and apparel. These items will be available exclusively through TORUS, on site and online beginning January 12.
