Mornings in the Garden: Talks on Bookmaking and Collaboration
On the occasion of Printed Matter’s Los Angeles Art Book Fair, Hauser & Wirth Publishers and Printed Matter will co-present a series of conversations on the theme of collaboration among artists, designers, editors, and publishers in the mornings before the Fair. These programs will take place in the Garden at Hauser & Wirth Downtown Los Angeles, just a 10-minute walk from The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Artist Karen Lofgren and designer Willem Henri Lucas will speak about ‘emBRUJAda: Charms for the Living,’ published by Set Margins’.
Artist James Benning and designer Martin Beck will speak about Inventory Press’ new publication ‘Over Time.’
Sunday, 13 August: Collaboration between artists and algorithms
Editor Venessa Appiah and type designer Juliette Duhe will discuss the application of generative AI in book publishing and present a collection of bookworks and experiments from Anteism Books that explore the topic.
Artist Jason Huff and publisher Adam Lucas of Specific Ideas will discuss their work together on Huff’s book ‘AutoSummarize.’
