Inspired by the “art brut” movement, a term coined by artist and collector Jean Dubuffet to describe outsider artists in the mid-twentieth century, Bruts, a group exhibition curated by Rashid Johnson, features painting, sculpture, works on paper, and collage by artists including Huma Bhabha, Aloïse Corbaz, Jean Dubuffet, Herbert Gentry, Isa Genzken, Leon Golub, Mark Grotjahn, William Hawkins, Thomas Houseago, Rashid Johnson, Loïs Mailou Jones, Dana Schutz, Jeff Sonhouse, Bill Traylor, and Peter Voulkos.
