In Cadences of the City, the artist uses boundaries and a guide to create layers of acrylic paint that interact with remnants of older pieces, allowing past elements to emerge, fade and reappear. Placing images, like billboards, overpasses, oil pumps, the sun/moon, non-linear in an abstract environment, fosters a sense of unpredictability and complexity for the viewer to explore their own perspectives and interpretations. This process mirrors the way experiences shape and reshape us over time. The tension between the old and the new, the hidden and the revealed, reflects the fluid nature of identity and the ongoing evolution of self-expression.
