In conversation with Karla Diaz: Wait ‘Til Your Mother Gets Home, artist Carmela Morales will be leading visitors in a guided papel picado workshop. Papel picado is a form of traditional Mexican art that dates back to ancient times. This traditional art consists of cutouts that are often strung together with twine to create colorful banners used to decorate for celebrations and festivals. At the end of this workshop, participants will have their very own papel picado garland to take home!
All ages welcome. Workshop guidance available for English and Spanish speakers. To ensure that we have materials available, please RSVP in advance.
