1301PE is pleased to present 'As the Moonbird flies.' a group exhibition of Shane Cotton, Simone Griffin and Fiona Pardington. These artists reflect on ancestral legacies and histories which consider the complexities of bicultural identity prevalent across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
The works in 'As the Moonbird flies' bring European and Indigenous ways of seeing into conversation. Through Griffin’s distinctive dot technique, Cotton’s layered iconography, and Pardington’s carefully constructed still-life compositions, each artist draws on different forms of cultural knowledge and visual language. Together, their practices explore how inherited ways of understanding can be carried forward, transformed, and reimagined through contemporary art.
'As the Moonbird flies.' runs through 7 November.
