As part of a series of new content generated for the Hammer Museum’s Made in L.A. 2020 biennial titled a version, Gallery Association Los Angeles (GALA) presents video profiles on the biennial's curators and selected artists.
Working around themes of sexuality and mortality Monica Majoli's work addresses loss, queerness, and her own personal history. Drawing upon homosexual history as a reference point for her recent Blueboys series, Majoli brings her focus to gay liberation in the 1970's through the images and forms of Blueboy magazine. In this video the artist talks about her approach to her most recent body of work and her use of the white-line woodcut technique.
