Assuming the roles of choreagrapher, dancer, and performer Ligia Lewis stages experimental performance that she both conceives and directs. Lewis uses the studio as a conceptual springboard to create dynamic site specfic performance. She frequently invites performers into her work as collaborators to further explore the expressive possibilites of concepts and spaces. In this video the artist walks us through the beginning stages of her creative practice and introduces her work deader than dead, a performance that she has conceived and directed for Made in L.A. 2020.
