In this visit, artist Candice Lin discusses her interest in exploring textiles, dyeing histories, and her current research examining how contamination and virality are racialized particularly via borders. The research-based artist’s practice takes on various histories relationally such as those of colonialism, slavery, plants, migration and materials—the latter in both content and form. Guiding us through the studio, Candice indicates where she takes care of her mushrooms and flesh-eating beetles while mentioning her latest discovery.
